I had some concerns when the secure was delivered but here are some painless fixes for a handful of shortcomings that you could experience, also:
- The shelf is held in location by two (one on every side) plastic inserts. My secure arrived with 1 of the plastic inserts broken, and the shelf was rattling about as I unpacked it. Offered how it was packaged (and how delivery suppliers transport goods), I wasn't suprised. I secured the shelf in location effortlessly with a twist-tie.
- The door was loose when closed and would clank (it is metal on metal, after all) when I touched the dial or entered my code. Not what I want when attempting to be covert. The two bumpers on the door had been overly compressed (possibly in the course of shipping), and I replaced them with alot more solid bumpers that I had purchased at Home Depot for my kitchen cabinet doors (similar to these). The door is good and snug now.
Overall, well worth $60-$70 for piece of mind with young children. I do not advise relying on this to keep out a burgler or inspired teenager, though.
UPDATE 2011/08/07: I want to give a hats off to Stack-On. Although trying out a way to make this a bit much more secure, I damaged the circuit card inside the door. I contacted Stack-On, told them it was my fault, and asked how substantially it would price to get a new one. They immediately replied that they'd send me a further 1 for zero cost (not even a charge for shipping). Entirely unexpected and substantially appreciated - that's outstanding service, IMO.
