I have read all the security reviews on Amazon from all the numerous security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security etc. I was impressed that the evaluations on this item did not mention something about poor quality, poor range and so on. I very first referred to as the AAS safety consumers and was impressed that more than the telephone they could answer all my queries. I would like to let you know that the primary programmer/ auto dialer is the similar on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only difference is the quantity of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc and so on. They have so quite a few extra add on's for their security method it is incredible, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and a lot more and significantly more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 most important programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and 3 motion detectors and two remote crucial pods. I setup the program on my kitchen table in about 1/two an hour. The siren is loud, since I bought the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors function lovely. Not too sensitive but operate at extended distances. I place a single on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The primary programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft home and I do not know where to put the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my entire initial floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the ability to dial into this system and listen to what is happening, works with my blackberry cellphone. You can set the exit and entrance instances and quite a few far more nice programming tricks that you do not uncover in other systems.This security program with my Avaak Vue wireless cameras are great. When the alarm goes off I am able to look in and see what is going on from anywhere. Will update in a couple of months.
UPDATE:
The program is fantastic. No troubles. I use VOIP Vonage for my dwelling telephone and it works awesome on out going alerts from the AAS 100 safety technique, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I can not dial into the AAS 100. SO....I bought the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP telephone . Its best for a alarm technique since it will dial out and I can now contact in to my alarm. Price? $1.95 per month. Fantastic! If everyone finds a greater VOIP source let me know!
Second update:
Found out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No trouble, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it every time we go out. Even with the dog at dwelling. Really like this program.
Third update Feb 2011:
System still operating outstanding. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Straightforward to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some fantastic deals on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No require for two systems, I never had to dial into the security technique, no false alarms!
Had this alarm program for the last two months. Also, bought the GSM Cellular Module, because I do not have a land-line.
